1992 (or the first time I heard Belle and Sebastian) was written in 2019 after seeing Belle and Sebastian perform live at Danforth Music Hall (Toronto). Rough//Shapes recorded and mixed the song during the pandemic using a combination of emailing individual song parts back and forth and practicing together whenever it was safe. The mix is decidedly low-fi.

There are some lines in this song that reflect optimistically about a time when we will once again share the experience of listening to music with one another-- whether it be through the din of a pub, at a friend's house or at a crowded concert hall. There is something wonderful about how music connects people.

Check in on one another often and continue to keep each other safe.
